Many clients often hire consultants to perform only “front-end” services because most consulting firms won’t take responsibility for implementing their recommendations. Other consulting firms are narrowly focused and cannot integrate people, systems, equipment, and facilities. Finally, many consultants have compromised their independence by offering “implementation services” that bias them towards specific products and preconceived solutions. Many projects fail because of these shortcomings, leaving the client to execute the project with very lean staffs or lacking experience in integrated program management. This not only increases your risk but refocuses your resources away from managing day-to-day operations. |
